After the majority win by Philippe Couillard and the Liberal
Party during Monday’s elections, we received the bad news on Tuesday that
Mr. Couillard intends on going forward with the end-of-life bill, which
includes medical-assisted death. This has come about despite half of his
caucus in the last government being opposed to it and even he himself having expressed
reservations on the subject last fall.
Their position has been taken. It is time to act.
Speak to your deputy, in particular to the newly elected who
have not yet expressed their views on the subject. Write to the newspapers.
Speak up publicly in all possible forums. Look for new signatories to the
manifesto (www.soignertoujours.com). We are
presently at 624. If each individual finds one new signatory, our numbers will
increase to over a thousand doctors.
We invite you to send us a copy of your letter to the deputy
or newspaper, at info@soignertoujours.com. We will
publish it on our blog, which will keep you informed during the following weeks
on the further events and developments of your colleagues.
We must persevere. We thank you for your valued support.
